What’s the difference between replacement
and new construction?
New construction windows do not have to be used on a new construction
house, and for remodeling purposes are often referred to as “FULL
TEARS”. “Full Tear” sums it up pretty well. Everything gets torn out;
from the interior molding, to the exterior trim to the existing frame of
the window. The crew starts from the studs of the house, preps the
opening, sets a new window (frame and all), insulates the perimeter, and
applies new interior and exterior trim.
Replacement windows are a little less labor intensive. The sashes (the
part of the window you open for ventilation) are removed, and a new
window, specifically designed to set within the existing frame of your
windows, is installed in place of the old sashes. Any space between the
old frame and the new window is insulated, the exterior trim is
typically capped with aluminum, and the interior is finished off with
interior stops. The existing interior molding stays in place. It is
never touched.
What do you expect for deposit?
We feel strongly that customers should not put huge sums of money on the
table before any work has begun. Taylor & Young is financially stable
enough to subsist without the cushion of our customer’s capital.
Therefore, we request a 20% deposit at time of sale, and expect the
balance to be paid upon completion of the project. As a note, if
projects are expected to require multiple weeks for a crew to finish, we
will work out a payment plan to incrementally collect portions of the
balance.
Are you trained or certified by any window
manufacturers?
We make it a point to be factory trained and certified by the top window
and door manufactures in order to provide you with outstanding service
that protects all of your product warranties. We are certified by Pella,
Andersen, Marvin and Simonton Windows.
What is your lead time?
This changes throughout the year. Product generally arrives within 2
to 4 weeks, and most commonly falls toward the 4 week side of things.
Installation is generally scheduled 5-8 weeks from the date a contract
is signed. However, the lead times can be greater depending on demand.
